Work Update and Goat Video

OK, I’m two hours and 1200 words into the manuscript ghostwriting project. I always stop at the two-hour mark and present what I’ve come up with so the client can give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down. So far, it has always been thumbs up, but I always want to give my clients an early out (with just a small kill fee for the time I invested) if they aren’t happy with what I come up with. This protects both parties. I like what I’ve come up with so far, but I’m at the end of the talking points the client gave me, so he’ll need to send me some more pronto to fulfill the six hours per week agreement we made so he could get a discount on the cost.

I’ve spoken to another client and will speak to yet another later this afternoon. Both are proofreading/editing/copy-enhancement clients. The one I spoke to already says the project won’t get underway for a few days but that it needs to be completed by July 5th. The other one, if I get it, will just take a couple of hours.  There is a third potential client who might hire me forty hours a week for three weeks but I don’t know how soon, so I’m keeping all options open to see which client commits first so I can schedule him in. Traffic control isn’t usually an issue, but it might be this time.  Hope not!

I feel stranded without my SUV (which my cousin has), even though I have nowhere I want to go. Isn’t that strange? Yes, it is.  My SUV is like a pacifier to a baby: it needs to be nearby!  Goofy, huh?  Patty is out and about all over Whidbey Island in my branded SUV, so she’s advertising for me by default. It would be great to get some business as a result of her trip there.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed…

What else? Sat with my goats again this morning while they browsed the neighbors’ field. I’ll do it one more time later today. They enjoy going out there and I enjoy watching them and relaxing while I do it.  It’s almost a meditation.  I sometimes almost nod off, it’s so peaceful and soothing to hear them munching away.
