My sister Jackie is with Altrusa International, a benevolent organization that serves under-served populations in various ways. Yesterday she and I went to Costco and Cash and Carry to pick up a van load of food and condiments for the booth that she, some Altrusa ladies, and other volunteers are running today at the C Street LeMay Car Show in Spanaway. The booth is a fund-raiser for Altrusa. I’m on stand by in case I’m needed, but enough other volunteers confirmed their attendance that I probably won’t be needed until wrap-up time when we’ll need to pack up what didn’t sell and store the booth pieces away.
It’s supposed to rain all day long–which we need but the car show doesn’t–but right now the sun is out and the car show has just opened, so hopefully there will be a good turnout. Since it has rained so little here, maybe rain won’t stop people anyway–they might just haul out their umbrellas and go anyway. The temperature is fine for an outing, for sure: mid 60’s and muggy/humid. I hope it all works out for them. They put a lot of effort into making the event happen. I would hate to see it get rained out…
It’s breezy today, which is odd for this time of year. Tree branches are fully laden with leaves, so there might be some branch snapping and power outages if it gets much windier. The clouds seem to be whizzing by, so it’s even windier higher up. I took a flake of hay to the goats so they don’t have to go out to find something to eat unless tey want to. I kind of hope they stay in the shed while it’s windy. There are a couple of big trees in their pasture with huge branches on them, any one of which could clobber a critter unlucky enough to be underneath it when it falls.
I got up way too early this morning (3:30) but that’s because I crashed way too early last night. I’ll probably take a nap in a little while.
I went to the Dollar Store for dish liquid and to McLendon’s Hardware for another household item this morning that the Dollar Store didn’t have. I usually start at the Dollar Store for commonly-purchased household needs (cleaning supplies, dishes, dish racks, office supplies, and so much more) because they don’t gouge you and the quality of most items is equal to or better than brand names. There’s no point in making huge corporations richer by buying their over-priced stuff when there’s an alternative.
Next to-do: Clean the kitchen–and there’s no time like the present…
