Finally, a Trek convention that most Star Trek fans can actually afford! I love it! And the proceeds go to a non-profit organization that is helping veterans train and receive service dogs. How cool is that?!
I received a heads up from Anthony Wynn, a Pacific Northwest fellow Trek/De fan, about this event. It’s the ONLY (as of now) 50th anniversary 100% Star Trek convention that will be happening in the Pacific Northwest this year. It’s Starkane, which will be held at the Red Lion Inn Templins in Post Falls, Idaho (just east of Spokane) during the actual 50th anniversary week of Star Trek (Thursday through Saturday, September 8th through 10th).
I immediately reached out to the event organizers to see if they’d be interested in having me appear there to talk about De. After reviewing my materials, they talked it over and said YES–and I get a book table, too! (Only 15 dealers will set up tables in the Dealer’s Room, so that’s excellent odds for selling some books, I think, providing the fan turnout is appreciable.)

This will be a fan-run convention–always the most fun, in my experience (and opinion). If you want to go , and can go, please register right away and tell others about it, too. Trek fans who aren’t already committed to another convention on the same date might even want to fly to Spokane to attend.
It’s going to be fun, that’s for sure! In addition to appearing on stage for a time, I’ll also be on a panel or two while there. (The appearance-on-stage plan is tentative and subject to change as additional celebs and others weigh in on whether they will be attending and appearing.) I’m looking forward to meeting more of De’s fans! De’s fans are DE Best!
