A little background about this anecdote: My mom had a real problem with me “confessing” to this degree of nervousness when I first wrote this piece (as a dead-on, true account of my anxiety!) as a comedy routine which was presented at Oakland, Denver and Baltimore #StarTrek conventions. She didn’t mind at all my “lusting” after McCoy in the other comedy routine, “No Bones About it”, but she was afraid everyone would think I was NUTS if I divulged THIS internal struggle in public. Little did she know that I KNOW how many fans face the same challenge the first time they meet with their favorite actors/writers/etc.up close and personal! I knew it would resonate mightily with a lot of De’s fans!!! I had ZERO doubt!
