Tacoma Aurora Borealis

I got brief views of the aurora borealis in Tacoma overnight. At first there was cloud cover, but toward midnight after the sky was cloud-free and crystal clear, I could see hundreds of stars — perfect conditions for seeing an aurora borealis.

Unfortunately, the appearances were so brief that I wasn’t able to catch a photo, but the view from my tent was a beautiful glowing light (lime/yellow) green. I didn’t observe any “dancing curtains”–just a full color sky for brief moments at times. (As with rainbows, it depends on where you are as to how well and how much of an aurora borealis you see.)

It was my first-ever live sighting, so I was thrilled to my toes. Unfortunately, I fell asleep off and on between “light shows” so I probably missed some of it, too.

But since seeing an aurora borealis live is one of the very few things still on my Bucket List, I felt fortunate to be able to see one!
