In no time at all the audio book and PDF versions of ‘DeForest Kelley Up Close and Personal, A Harvest of Memories from the Fan Who Knew Him Best’ will be available at YellowBalloonPublications.com.
Please note: These two versions are exclusive to Yellow Balloon Publications; they won’t be available via Amazon or Createspace, although the Kindle and printed (book) versions will remain at Amazon and Createspace (CS).
I elected to do the PDF and audio book versions in-house so I can share the proceeds with the actual people who have been helping me produce and market them. Amazon simply lists the title (for the print and Kindle editions) while expecting me to do all of the marketing, even though they get the lion’s share of the profits.
By doing the PDF and audio book in-house, the additional beneficiaries will be the dear friends who are actually working hard to help me produce and market the title. What a concept! I’m all for sharing the proceeds with the people who actually did a whole bunch of work to help “make it so”!
I wrote the manuscript, and narrated it for the audio version, but Lisa Twining Taylor edited the manuscript and is developing a marketing plan (and the new website) to catapult the news beyond where it has already gone.
Rod Janpol engineered the audio files I recorded to make them as professional-sounding as they can be, given the limitations I saddled him with (“Dammit, Jim, I’m a writer, not a professional voice actor!”).
Perhaps his greatest challenge was that I presented him with an ancient vinyl voice mails audiotape that was riddled with beeps, boops and bops–all of which he had to delete and finesse to make the messages from the Kelleys and the other celebrities sound as clear as possible.
I’ve recently heard excerpts from both the main portion of the audio book and from the voice mails section and I’m thrilled with the results. Rod has done a magnificent job…
I hope the new audio book version reaches fans who prefer audio books and fans who can’t read because of blindness or other limitations.
I hope the price of the PDF makes the title affordable even to fans on limited incomes.
Please Note: If you’re on Social Security, or painfully struggling to make ends meet for some other reason (or if you know someone who is who would love a PDF of the book), email me at krisATwordwhisperer.net and I will do my best to accommodate you…***
“There are always possibilities. I don’t believe in the no-win scenario.”
***Why? Because you obviously loved De and because I’m living on the edge income-wise, too!!!
