I have not abandoned this blog…well, not entirely…
It’s just that I’ve started another blog at my new website, YellowBalloonPublications.com, and I’ve been concentrating on getting that populated with sufficient blogs to let the search engines find it and to let people know I’m going to be active there…
YellowBalloonPublication.com is my official book website. Here you can read book descriptions, excerpts, reviews, recommendations and reflections. You can get all versions of my book here, too. (Amazon only has softcover and Kindle versions of my books.) DeForest Kelley Up Close and Personal: A Harvest of memories from the Fan Who Knew Him Best is available in audio and PDF versions at this site. WordWhisperer.net is the site where I share copy writing tips and techniques to DIY business owners and newbie copywriters who can presently write pleasantly and properly but can’t figure out how to write powerfully. (The vast majority of teachers teach their students to write pleasantly and properly; they’re technicians, not word artists. They don’t know how to write powerfully.) I haven’t been contributing much to it because there is so little feedback from its visitors that I think it’s probably not worthwhile to invest time and heart into. Let me know if I’m wrong! I will start it up again if enough people are getting value from it…
AlmostFamousByDesFault is my oldest blog (since 2007). It is a blog (chiefly) about my day-to-day existence and insights but it includes lots of fun snippets about to my 30-year friendship with Carolyn and DeForest Kelley. I haven’t been contributing much to it lately, as I’m putting most of my De-related stuff in the two newest blogs–HireMe.WordWhisperer.net and YellowBalloonPublication.com, what with the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek being front-and-center this year.
I’ve been doing just about back-to-back interviews and podcasts for the past month in the lead up to Star Trek’s official 50th Anniversary date on September 8th. Lots of people are revisiting their love for DeForest Kelley and I’m their point gal for that, since he launched my writing career in 1969 and since I became his personal assistant and caregiver at the end of his life. The hosts are reading my book and having me on to talk about the man and his legacy. Some podcast hosts who focus on motion picture and TV westerns have also had me on to talk about De’s career as a rowdy cowboy–and what fun that is! I’ve also written an article about De’s career in westerns for Cowboys and Indians magazine. It will be in the NOV-DEC issue, on newsstands in mid-October. Lots of fun anecdotes about De’s memories as a reel cowboy …
