New #DeForestKelley Gigs…

Kris Goofing with Gun, Laramie Street 1995

Two DeForest Kelley-related gigs happened to me this week:

First, Jim Fossett with The Northern Kittitas County Tribune interviewed me about my association with De yesterday. He assembled a good piece that covers the evolution of my association with De.

The newspaper has a 5000+ circulation. It will be published this coming Tuesday or next. I’ll let you know the date as soon as I do.

The article will point readers to my Author Page at Amazon and to Starkane.com, where I’ll be appearing in September.

Second, I pitched an article about De’s westerns to Cowboys and Indians magazine and got the nod to present the final version to the Senior Editor. He liked it and says the Managing Editor will email me the contract Monday.  It’s an 1,125-word piece.

The editor wanted a 1,000-word piece but I couldn’t get the word count that low without eviscerating it. He’s happy with it. The article is scheduled to go into the Nov-Dec issue of Cowboys and Indians.

Additional Opportunities:

I also have an email in to Closer magazine to see if they’d like a piece on De.

I may send a short piece on De to AARP Magazine. They’re planning an August or September issue that throws a spotlight on Star Trek’s 50th anniversary.

Billie Rae Walker is working on an interview with me this weekend. She hopes to place it with a #StarTrek magazine  for its 50th anniversary issue. She has had success doing this two times before with me as the interviewee, so she thinks it can happen again. Fingers crossed!

I’m going to look for other Western-themed magazines to see if there’s interest in a piece about De’s career in westerns.  The one I just wrote for Cowboys and Indians covers his anecdotal memories of making some of the westerns he’s most remembered for, so it wouldn’t conflict. The two pieces would be like apples and oranges…

Please Help Me Find More Outreach Opportunities:

If you know of additional magazines, podcasts, radio shows, newspapers, and/or TV hosts that would be like to interview me or have me write about De for their audiences, please let me know.

If you know any of them personally, putting in a good word for me and letting them know of my association with De would be terrific.

Thanks for stopping by and for any help you can offer to grease the skids and make it easier to land interviews and articles! You’re DE Best!
